Long Time No Post

I just read my last post and laughed at the ending sentence about my cycling goals. Everything is still going great, I am enjoying cycling but I am not on the tear I thought I would be after that day.

We have had some good rides but it seems like my legs have been blowing out the last four rides.

The first day I thought it was the heat. It had been in the high 90's along with rabid humidity that day and we rode in the evening. But then a few days later was some of the best weather all year. We rode at 6:00 a.m. and it was about 62 degrees and I still blew out.

I thought it might be my body knowing where I was on the route so we went a different way on the last ride. I didn't give out as bad but I still did.

I did manage to keep up and we averaged 18 mph. I'm trying not to be one of those people who compliments themselves and at the same time puts themselves down but I have to believe that a 245 lb rider averaging 18 mph for any length over 10 miles has got to be good.

I read with great interest in Bicycling magazine a great article on people with weight problems using in cycling as a way to get healthy. They pointedly admitted that the cycling world caters to the 150 lb standard. Clothes, training tips, etc. don't include many overweight riders and that is even if you count 190 has overweight. There are a lot of people out there that enjoy cycling that do not fit the industry standard. I have shed 20 lbs in four months.

Somebody needs to tap into this new market.
